A part of the Mediterranean set between the Padana plane and the Alps, Lake Garda boasts a number of records: apart from being the largest lake in Italy, it is also the widest and the most blue, thanks to the purifying currents. It has four islands, Garda, the largest, lies just outside Salò.
The lake water, lapping on the white-pebble shores, is crystal-clear and fresh. Rich in sea colours, it warms up in the summer and releases this warmth in the winter, thus narrowing the temperature range and contributing to creating a unique micro-climate, characterised by mild temperatures that can normally be experienced only at the seaside.
Thanks to the sun shining almost all year long, the Mediterranean vegetation, with a number of exotic species, flourishes, creating a genuine natural arboretum.
